How we do it at DentiClinic
We remove decay gently to preserve as much healthy tooth as possible. For deeper decay we isolate the working field (OptraGate or rubber dam), which helps the filling hold better. We explain every step to children and never rush the treatment.
Before and after treatment
- Until the anaesthesia wears off (about 2 hours), don’t eat or have hot drinks
- A composite filling is hard immediately after treatment
- Sensitivity to cold for a few days after treatment is normal
- If the filling feels high when you bite, let us know – we adjust it quickly
Frequently asked questions
Does treating decay hurt?
No. We numb the tooth before treatment. For small cavities anaesthesia is often not even necessary.
What are the fillings made of?
Tooth-coloured composite, which is bonded to the tooth and invisible. Amalgam (dark fillings) has no longer been used in the EU since 2025.
Do primary teeth need treatment?
Yes. Decay in a primary tooth hurts just as much and can damage the permanent tooth growing underneath. Losing a primary tooth too early can also cause crooked permanent teeth.
What is fissure sealing?
We apply a thin layer of material into the deep grooves of the molars so food does not get trapped. It is recommended especially for children after the permanent molars come through, around age 6 and 12.
How long does a filling last?
With good hygiene and regular check-ups, many years. We check your fillings at every preventive check-up.
